Virtual Public Information Meeting Sept. 1 on Design Plans to Improve Telegraph Road at Hayfield Road
Participate and give feedback online; learn more at virginiadot.org/TelegraphatHayfield

Update: The Sept. 1 meeting is postponed and will be rescheduled in the coming weeks.

ALEXANDRIA
 – The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information meeting Wednesday, Sept. 1 on planned improvements to reduce congestion and improve safety and operations in the area of Telegraph Road (Route 611) and Hayfield Road (Route 635).

Preliminary design plans include adding a second northbound through lane on Telegraph Road at the Hayfield Road intersection. Also, reconfiguring southbound Telegraph Road just beyond Hayfield Road by converting the existing on-road parking to a second through lane and converting the eastbound Hayfield Road through lane to a shared left-turn through lane.

At the intersection, Telegraph Road averages about 21,000 vehicles a day and Hayfield Road averages about 10,000 based on 2019 data.
