Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges October 16-21 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Details include:

Sunday, October 16
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. 

Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspection work. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North, then follow signs to the Braddock Road/Walney Road left exit.

Sunday, October 16, through Thursday, October 20
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

Sunday, October 16, through Thursday, October 20
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 North and South Centreville
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.

 

Tuesday, October 18
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West.

 

Tuesday, October 18, through Friday, October 21
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between midnight to 4 a.m. (until 5 a.m. on Saturday) for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday, October 17, through Wednesday, October 19
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured to I-495 South, exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.

 

Tuesday, October 18
Ramps from Route 29 North and South Centreville to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Route 29 South traffic will be directed farther south to Stone Road, make a U-turn onto Route 29 North, exit to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Route 29 North traffic will be directed farther north to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.


Monday night, October 17, through Thursday night, October 20
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 (Sudley Road) Business North and South 
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for underdrain work. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business.

Tuesday, October 18, through Thursday, October 20
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
Ramp closure is planned on multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East or West.

 

Tuesday, October 18, through Thursday, October 20
Ramp from Route 234 Business North and South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured north of I-66 to Route 29 South, travel about four miles then follow signs to I-66 West. As an alternate route, drivers can go west on Balls Ford Road, turn right onto Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) North, then follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.

  

Tuesday, October 18, and Wednesday, October 19
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and a traffic shift. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs for I-66 East.

 

Tuesday, October 18, through Friday, October 21  
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass to I-66 East
Ramp closure is planned for multiple nights between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented on nights when the detour conflicts with other closures.
