Additional Overnight Road and Ramp Closures Planned Tonight, Monday, May 22, for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
Closures will be implemented at I-66 interchanges in Centreville, Fairfax, and Vienna

FAIRFAX – Additional overnight road and ramp closures are needed for paving and barrier work tonight at several I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. All work is in addition to closures that were announced on May 19.

Monday, May 22
Ramp from Route 29 (Lee Highway) North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Monday, May 22
Braddock Road/Walney Road between Newton Patent Drive and Cabells Mill Road
The road will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Drivers will be directed to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange to reach Route 28 South, I-66 West, and points on the other side of Route 28. 

Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Drivers will be directed to stay to the right and continue on the ramp to Route 28 North and travel to the exit to Westfields Boulevard. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will exit to Westfields Boulevard West and continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will exit to Westfields Boulevard East, and then turn right onto Walney Road.  

Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north on Route 28 to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue west to Braddock Road. Drivers heading to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.

 

Monday, May 22
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, travel to Route 50 West, then stay to the right to I-66 West.

Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for barrier work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.

Ramps from I-66 West to Nutley Street North and South 
The ramps will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed farther west to the exit to Vienna/Fairfax/GMU Station, stay to the right onto Country Creek Road, continue onto Virginia Center Boulevard, then at the Nutley Street traffic signal turn left to head north or turn right to travel south.

Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
