Overnight 30-Minute Traffic Stoppages on I-495 South Collector- Distributor Road Near Georgetown Pike in McLean, July 12-14
Stoppages needed to remove overhead roadway signs: I-495 South general purpose lanes will remain open during work

FAIRFAX, VA – Periodic stoppages of up to 30 minutes on the southbound I-495 collector-distributor road near Georgetown Pike (exit 44) are scheduled to occur during overnight hours next Wednesday through Friday night (July 12 through 14). Following each stoppage, one lane will reopen to clear traffic before the next stoppage is implemented. Stoppages will occur between the hours of midnight and 5 a.m. The southbound I-495 general purpose lanes will remain open to traffic.

These traffic stoppages are necessary for crews to remove overhead roadway signs. In the event of inclement weather, the stoppages and associated work will be postponed to the following night. Travelers should anticipate delays and consider taking an alternate route.

This work is part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern Extension (495 NEXT) project to extend the existing 495 Express Lanes from the Dulles Corridor interchange to the GWMP near the American Legion Bridge. Drivers are urged to slow down and use caution when traveling through the 495 NEXT work zone.

Visit 495NEXT.org for the latest construction and lane closure information.
