Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges April 23-29 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Sunday, April 23, through Friday, April 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, April 23, through Tuesday, April 25, and Thursday, April 27
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. Drivers headed to Braddock Road/Walney Road will then stay left and follow signs to that exit. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, April 23, Monday, April 24, and Wednesday, April 26
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to Westfields Boulevard to reach Route 28 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Sunday, April 23, through Friday, April 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday, April 24, through Wednesday, April 26
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night for inspection work. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 (Lee Highway) South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Monday night, April 24
Ramp from Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Route 50 East, then stay left to I-66 East.
Monday, April 24, though Wednesday, April 26
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday, April 25, and Wednesday, April 26
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 234 Business (Sudley Road) North and South
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Drivers will be directed to continue farther west, exit to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North Gainesville, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East and follow signs to Route 234 Business. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday night, April 25, through Thursday night, April 27
Ramp from Route 286 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the closure conflicts with other detours.
Tuesday night, April 25, and Wednesday night, April 26
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed farther west to Route 608 South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Tuesday night, April 25, and Wednesday night, April 26
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a concrete pour Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Wednesday, April 26, through Friday, April 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Wednesday, April 26, through Friday, April 28
Ramps from I-66 West to I-495 South and the 495 Express Lanes South
The ramps will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for utility installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or the 495 Express Lanes South.
Thursday, April 27, and Friday, April 28
Ramp from Route 234 Bypass (Prince William Parkway) to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to I-66 West, exit to Route 29 North, turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Thursday night, April 27, and Friday night, April 28
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, travel to Route 50 West, then stay to the right to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Thursday night, April 27, and Friday night, April 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to Route 286 North, stay right to I-66 West, then stay right to Route 286 South. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Thursday night, April 27
Ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection with White Granite Drive/Rose Forest Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn onto Route 123 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. on multiple nights for paving and drainage installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. Note: This closure will not be implemented when the detour conflicts with other closures.
Friday night, April 28
Ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for noise wall installation. Traffic will be directed farther north to the loop ramp to I-66 West, exit to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 East.
