Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges August 14-18 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
UPDATE (8/15/2023): The following ramp closure has been added to this week's schedule:
Wednesday night, August 16
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for concrete work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Saturday, August 12
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead work. Traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 North, turn left at the second traffic signal then turn left at the next traffic signal following signs to Route 286 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, August 14
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
Ramp from I-66 West to 495 Express Lanes South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left and follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South or the 495 Express Lanes South.
Monday, August 14, through Friday, August 18
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, August 14, through Friday night, August 18
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramps will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage repair. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, exit to Route 29 North, stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road/Walney Road should stay left and follow signs to Braddock Road/Walney Road.
Tuesday night, August 15
Ramps from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South
The ramps will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, travel north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North or South.
Tuesday, August 15
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed for light pole installation from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Saintsbury Drive/Swanee Lane onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Wednesday, August 16, through Friday, August 18
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for inspections. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday, August 16
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 50 East and West
The ramps will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, and then follow signs to Route 50 West or Route 50 East.
Thursday, August 17
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto southbound Nutley Street, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Friday night, August 18
Ramp from Route 123 South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to I-66 West (prior to the closure), exit to Route 50 East, then stay left to I-66 East.
Friday night, August 18
Ramp from Route 123 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the traffic signal at White Granite Drive, stay to the left and make a U-turn onto Route 123 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
