Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges June 4-9 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Monday night, June 5, through Friday night, June 9
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.
Monday, June 5, through Wednesday, June 7
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for repair work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Monday, June 5, through Friday, June 9
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 28 North
The ramp will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 28 North.
Monday, June 5, through Friday, June 9
Ramp from Route 28 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for repair work. Traffic will be directed to Route 29 South (prior to the closed ramp), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, then continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East.
Tuesday, June 6, through Friday, June 9
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work, drainage work, and painting. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday, June 7
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Friday night, June 9
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Sunday, June 4, and Monday, June 5
Ramps from I-66 East to Nutley Street North and South and the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metrorail Station
The ramps will be closed both nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther east to I-495 North, travel north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) West, stay to the right to I-495 South, exit to I-66 West, then follow signs to Nutley Street North or South.
Tuesday, June 6
Ramp from Nutley Street South to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther south, stay to the left and make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Route 29 onto Nutley Street North, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.
Tuesday, June 6
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left around the new traffic circle onto Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 East. Note: This closure will not be implemented if it conflicts with other detours.
Sunday, June 4, and Monday, June 5
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) South
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 50 East, stay to the left to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 123 South.
