Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges March 26 - April 1 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
UPDATE (3/30/2023): For tonight, Thursday, March 30, the ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville will be closed from 10 p.m. to midnight. (See below for detour information.)
An additional night has been added for the closure of the ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South. It will be closed tonight Thursday, March 30, from midnight to 4 a.m. (See below for detour information.)
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Sunday night, March 26, through Thursday night, March 30
I-66 East C-D Lane at Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South
The ramps and the eastbound collector-distributor lane will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for paving and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.
Monday night, March 27, through Friday night, March 31
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for noise wall work. Traffic will be directed to exit prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South.
Monday, March 27, through Saturday, April 1
Ramp from I-66 East to Braddock Road/Walney Road
Ramp from Route 28 North to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramps will be closed each night from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers traveling to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Monday, March 27, through Saturday, April 1
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to Route 28 North, travel to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange. Drivers heading to Braddock Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard West, then continue to Braddock Road. Drivers traveling to Walney Road will take the exit to Westfields Boulevard East, then turn right onto Walney Road.
Monday, March 27, and Tuesday, March 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.
Monday night, March 27; Wednesday night, March 29; and Thursday night, March 30
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for bridge inspections and a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east on Route 50, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, March 27, and Tuesday night, March 28
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for guardrail installation and barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to the Route 50 West exit, stay to the right to the I-66 West ramp, then stay to the right to Route 50 East.
Monday night, March 27, and Tuesday night, March 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
Monday night, March 27, through Wednesday night, March 29
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue, stay to the left and take the roundabout to Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Tuesday, March 28, and Wednesday, March 29
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther south to Route 29 North, stay right to Route 28 North, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Thursday night, March 30, and Friday night, March 31
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Tuesday, March 28
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for light pole installation. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.
Monday night, March 27, through Friday night, March 31
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed nightly from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Friday night, March 31, and Saturday night, April 1
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.
