Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges May 30–June 2 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project. 

Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to Route 28 South  
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be directed to the Westfields Boulevard Interchange to reach Route 28 South. 

 

Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 South   
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for milling and paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 29 (Lee Highway) Centreville, stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 North, then follow signs to Route 28 South.

 

Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2
Ramp from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for barrier removal and paving. Traffic will be directed to I-66 East, exit to Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West. 

 

Tuesday, May 30, through Friday, June 2
Ramps from Route 28 North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for repair work and paving. Southbound traffic will be directed farther south to Route 29 South, continue for about one mile, and follow signs to I-66 East. Northbound traffic will also be directed to Route 29 South (prior to the closure), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 29 South, continue for about one mile and follow signs to I-66 East. 

 

Tuesday, May 30
Ramp from Route 50 West to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Tuesday, May 30
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East.

 

Wednesday night, May 31, and Thursday night, June 1
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 East.

 

Thursday, June 1, and Friday, June 2
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 28 North
Ramp from I-66 West to Braddock Road/Walney Road

The ramps will be closed both nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be detoured to Route 28 South, to Route 29 North, then stay to the right and follow signs to Route 28 North. Drivers headed to Braddock Road/Walney Road will then stay left and follow signs to that exit.

Friday, June 2
Ramp from I-495 South to I-66 West   
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge work and drainage installation. Traffic will be detoured farther south to the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, stay to the right following signs to I-495 North and I-66, then follow signs to I-66 West.
