Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges October 30 – November 4 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project
UPDATE (11/2/2023): The following closures have been cancelled for tonight and rescheduled to tomorrow night, Friday, November 3, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Please see below for detour routes.
I-66 West Collector-Distributor Lane at Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)
Ramps from I-66 West to Route 286 North and South
Ramp from Route 286 North to I-66 West
UPDATE (11/1/2023): The hours of the closure of the ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West for tonight, Wednesday, November 1, will be midnight to 4 a.m.
FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Monday, October 30
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North.
Monday night, October 30, and Tuesday night, October 31
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge inspection. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.
Monday night, October 30, through Saturday night, November 4
Ramp from I-66 West to I-495 South
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for drainage work. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Nutley Street, stay to the left on the ramp and follow the roundabout onto Nutley Street South, stay right to I-66 East, then follow signs to I-495 South.
Wednesday, November 1
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and make a U-turn from the left-most left turn lane at the traffic signal at Virginia Center Boulevard onto Nutley Street South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, November 1, and Thursday night, November 2
I-66 West Collector-Distributor Lane at Route 286
Ramps from I-66 West to Route 286 North and South
Ramp from Route 286 North to I-66 West
The C-D Lane and the ramps will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead sign installation. Traffic on I-66 West will be directed to continue farther west to Route 28 South, stay right to the ramp to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 286 South or North.
Traffic on Route 286 North will be directed farther north to Fair Lakes Parkway. Stay left on the ramp and turn left at the traffic signal onto Fair Lakes Parkway West, then turn left at the traffic signal to the Route 286 South ramp and follow signs to I-66 West.
Wednesday night, November 1, through Friday night, November 3
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed on multiple nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 West, stay to the right to I-495 South, then follow signs to I-66 West.
Friday night, November 3
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 50 West
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for utility work and overhead bridge work. Traffic will be detoured farther east to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road), stay to the left and turn left at the traffic signal onto Route 123 North, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 50 West.
