Week-long Closure of Poplar Tree Road Over Route 28 Planned Next Week, June 26-30, for Pavement Reconstruction
Road to be closed between E.C. Lawrence Park Access Road and Newbrook Drive
FAIRFAX – Poplar Tree Road is scheduled to be closed over Route 28 from the E.C. Lawrence Park Access Road to Newbrook Drive starting on or about Monday night, June 26, continuously through Friday morning, June 30, for pavement reconstruction. Drivers will be directed around the closure via Westfields Boulevard to reach the opposite side of Route 28. The shared-use path along Poplar Tree Road over Route 28 will remain open to bike and pedestrian traffic during this period. This work is part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.
Drivers traveling on Poplar Tree Road and Westfields Boulevard during this time should expect heavier volume than usual and consider using alternate routes.
All work is weather dependent and will be rescheduled if inclement conditions occur.

Monday, June 26, through Friday, June 30
Poplar Tree Road from the E.C. Lawrence Park Access Road to Newbrook Drive
- The road will be closed beginning around 11 p.m. Monday continuously through the week until 8 a.m. Friday.
- Drivers on the west side of Route 28 will be directed around the closure via Stonecroft Boulevard and Westfields Boulevard. Drivers on the east side of Route 28 will be directed to travel north on Newbrook Drive, turn left onto Park Meadow Drive, left turn at Westfields Boulevard, then turn left onto Stonecroft Boulevard.
- All lanes will reopen by 8 a.m. Friday morning.
