FRANKLIN STREET INTERCHANGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT NOW COMPLETE IN RICHMOND
Newly widened ramp will allow for heavier traffic volumes from I-95 south

SOUTH CHESTERFIELD — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has completed interchange improvements work at I-95 south and E. Franklin Street (Exit 74B) in the City of Richmond.

The $2.3 million project began in December 2018 and features a newly widened, three-lane ramp to improve safety and alleviate congestion. Additionally, new traffic signals and pedestrian crossings are now available.

Approximately 12,000 vehicles use the exit ramp each day.

The newly completed project is one of multiple projects along the Interstate 95 corridor in the Richmond area that will substantially improve traffic flow in the region. This multi-year initiative includes improving signage, realigning lanes and installing roundabouts, as well as modernizing existing assets and information technology.
