VDOT TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON NEW COX ROAD (ROUTE 460) AND COURTHOUSE ROAD (ROUTE 627) INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS IN DINWIDDIE COUNTY
Public invited to learn more about the proposed improvements on October 17
SOUTH CHESTERFIELD—The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will hold a public hearing on proposed intersection improvements at New Cox Road (Route 460) and Courthouse Road (Route 627) in Dinwiddie County. Proposed improvements include replacing the existing conventional intersection with a modified median U-turn for enhanced safety and traffic flow. The modified median U-turn eliminates direct left turns; drivers instead turn right from side streets and make a U-turn at designated crossings.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Eastside Enhancement Center, located at 7301 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803. This meeting will provide an opportunity for individuals, businesses or organizations to give VDOT input on the project.
The proposed modified median U-turn intersection would be constructed within existing right-of-way.
Comments about the proposed project may be submitted at the meeting or until October 27 by mailing them to Scott Thornton, Petersburg Assistant Residency Administrator, Virginia Department of Transportation, 4608 Boydton Plank Road, Petersburg, VA 23803-6532. Comments can also be emailed to scott.thornton@vdot.virginia.gov. Please reference “Dinwiddie RCUT” in the subject line.
Anyone requiring special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting may contact VDOT’s Civil Rights Division at (804) 524-6091 or TDD/TTY 711.
