COMMONWEALTH TRANSPORTATION BOARD AWARDS CONTRACTS FOR TWO RICHMOND DISTRICT PROJECTS
Projects include a bridge replacement and a paving contract

SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. — At its monthly meeting, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) awarded two contracts for projects in the Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Richmond District.

I-95 Bridge Superstructure Replacement over Reymet Road – Chesterfield County

A project worth approximately $5.5 million was awarded to Archer Western Construction LLC of Herndon, Virginia, to replace the superstructure of the Interstate 95 bridge over Reymet Road (state Route 608), located between the state Route 288 and Willis Road interchanges. The purpose of this project is to replace the bridge’s superstructure and to increase the bridge’s vertical height clearance from 14 feet, 4 inches to at least 14 feet, 6 inches. The bridge carries an average of approximately 51,000 vehicles in each direction of I-95 per day. Approximately 2,300 vehicles per day pass under the bridge on Reymet Road. Drivers can expect single or double lane closures during work. Work is expected to begin in summer 2021 and end in late 2022.

Plant Mix Paving on Various Routes – Charles City, Goochland, Hanover and Henrico Counties

A project worth approximately $5.1 million was awarded to Allan Myers VA Inc. of Glen Allen, Virginia, to pave various routes in Charles City, Goochland, Hanover and Henrico counties with a plant mix treatment. Drivers can expect occasional lane closures during work. Work will be completed in the 2021 paving season, which generally extends from April to December. A full map of Virginia routes scheduled for paving in 2021 will be posted to https://www.virginiadot.org.
