SECTION OF CUT BANK ROAD/CHERRY HILL ROAD (ROUTE 609) CLOSED FOR BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT IN BRUNSWICK COUNTY
The project is expected to be complete in spring 2022
SOUTH CHESTERFIELD, Va. —The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) closed Cut Bank Road/Cherry Hill Road (Route 609) over Nottoway River in Brunswick County for a bridge replacement project on Thursday, August 12. The closure is located between Windmill Road on the south side of the river, and Cutbank Road on the north side of the river.
The existing structure was constructed in 1933. Weather permitting, the bridge replacement project is expected to be complete in spring 2022.
The following detour route will be in place:
Cut Bank Rd./Cherry Hill Rd. (Rt. 609) north: Take Windmill Rd. (Rt. 631) west to Old Stage Rd. (Rt. 712) north to I-85 north to Exit 42 to McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) east to Rainey Creek Rd. (Rt. 654) south to Cutbank Rd. (Rt. 687) south back to Cherry Hill Rd.
Cherry Hill Rd./Cut Bank Rd. (Rt. 609) south: Take Cutbank Rd. (Rt. 687) north to Rainey Creek Rd. (Rt. 654) north to McKenney Hwy. (Rt. 40) west to I-85 south to Exit 39 to Old Stage Rd. (Rt. 712) south to Windmill Rd. (Rt. 631) east back to Cut Bank Rd.
Local access to properties on either side of the closure will be permitted.
The estimated cost of the project is $2.6 million.
