ALL INTERSTATE 81 LANES REOPEN IN HARRISONBURG AREA

STAUNTON – All lanes on Interstate 81 in the Harrisonburg area have reopened following a crash.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on October 7 all southbound lanes and the left northbound lane on I-81 closed at mile-marker 249.6 due to a crash. This location is between exit 247 at Route 33 and exit 251 at Route 11 in the Harrisonburg area.

Around 6:30 p.m. there was an earlier crash on I-81 southbound at mile-marker 246.4 with a left lane closure.  Backups were up to seven miles long. The incident concluded at 8:30 p.m. with all lanes clear at that time.
