Overview:

The Route 460 Safety and Operations Study is examining the corridor between the Windsor town limits in Isle of Wight County and the Route 58 Interchange in Suffolk to identify possible safety and operational improvements. When the study is finished, the  recommendations will be provided to Isle of Wight County and the City of Suffolk. The localities may then submit the recommendations for projects as part of SMART SCALE.

The Route 460 Safety and Operations Study is focused on traffic operations, crash data and design features. Study activities include a field review and evaluation of existing conditions. The study will identify corridor users, roadway characteristics, and issues affecting travel.

This study is being done in collaboration with VDOT and local stakeholders. Public meetings are being held to gain comments and insight from citizens within the study area.

Status:

VDOT held public meetings in October 2017 at the Kings Fork Middle School and Windsor High School. Citizens were able to provide feedback regarding safety concerns and issues on US 460.
