Virtual Public Information Meeting May 8 on Route 50 over Goose Creek Bridge Replacement
Learn more and give feedback online at virginiadot.org/Route50GooseCreek

UPPERVILLE – The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a virtual public information meeting Monday, May 8 on the planned replacement of the Route 50 bridge over Goose Creek to improve long-term safety and operations. The bridge was built in 1954.

The project includes corrosion-resistant steel to reduce long-term maintenance, as well as aesthetic treatment of the bridge parapets and rails that will pay homage to the surrounding historic area. Two lanes will remain along the new bridge with wider shoulders in each direction.

The bridge averages 7,600 vehicles a day based on 2019 data.

The project's preliminary engineering phase is financed with state funding; the right of way and construction phases are planned to be financed with federal and state funding.
