The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) participates in the Federal Highway Administration initiative to promote the transportation industry and the careers it offers to America’s youth.

Each year, VDOT contributes to the education and recruitment of the transportation industry’s future workforce by holding a career fair.

The purpose of the career fair is to showcase the benefits of careers in transportation and inspire students to consider transportation-related fields while they make their future career goals and plans.

Engineering firms, organizations, agencies and contractors from all across Virginia participate in this event.

Additionally, colleges such as Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, Northern Virginia Community College and Laurel Ridge Community College will be available to talk about their engineering and transportation-related programs.

The career fair is an exciting and informative day for students to discover a variety of careers related to transportation. There are numerous hands-on opportunities for students, including trying out equipment, learning how to build a bridge and watching a demonstration on how concrete is made. It also serves as an exciting and rewarding event for exhibitors to enlighten students and spark their interest in the transportation industry.
