They also provide support for more than 127,000 lane miles of highway and more than 20,000 bridges and structures.

Some of the areas you can explore are below.


  • Developing highway and bridge plans
  • Performing highway and bridge design studies
  • Preparing detailed plans and specifications for foundations, slopes, drainage, and incorporating your knowledge and experience to adapt design projects to a wide range of geotechnical challenges

  • Investigating and analyzing unstable foundations, solid-rock slope failures and groundwater problems.
  • Overseeing project execution by private companies
  • Inspecting project sites to ensure materials meet the needs of the job and that construction is performed according to plan

  • Designing, evaluating and providing recommendations to ensure proper road surfaces to protect the safety of all 
  • Conducting engineering and traffic studies to establish speed limits, passing zones, sign placement, pavement markings, etc.
